This 1930s love song, written by Jimmy Cambell, Reg Connelly and Harry M. Woods has seen many treatments — from the Ray Noble original to Frank Sinatra and Michael Buble. One of the most loved was the soulful hit by the great Otis Redding. The 1991 film ‘The Commitments’ gave tribute to Redding’s classic recording with their powerful take on ‘Try A Little Tenderness’.

The popular Ballad is a difficult art — and there aren’t many groups that can provide a moving, soulful ballad like Tower of Power. This 3/4 cut from their 1974 album ‘Back To Oakland’ features a lush string arrangement on top of T.O.P’s recognisable wall of horns. ‘Time Will Tell’ also includes a beautifully harmonized backing vocal section, but would be just as powerful as a feature for your Male or Female singer.
